Established in 1938, Dorset Yacht Company have had the pleasure of managing the UK Boston Whaler Distributorship which includes the Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland, for over 30 years. Sales and Service operations are run from our own "Lake Yard" marina and boat yard (originally known as Dorset Lake Shipyard).
Simon Langford (Harbour Yachts' founder and director) started sailing from a very young age during annual family holidays at the beautiful Ringstead Bay on Dorset's jurassic coastline. The open bay is a wonderful location for sailing, kayaking, water-skiing and fishing, and was a great place to get a taste for boating. Simon joined the Royal Navy cadets at secondary school in Berkshire and sailed in the school's sailing club.

W Bates & Son was formed in 1934. During the war with over 150 employees, air sea rescue vessels, sea plane tenders and the like were built for the MOD.
